Why I Started Investellia
A few years ago, I was exactly where you might be right now.
I had a decent salary, I was working hard, and at the end of every month I had almost nothing left to show for it. I knew I should be investing — I had heard about the stock market, mutual funds, and savings certificates — but every time I tried to learn more, I hit a wall of confusing jargon, irrelevant advice written for American or British audiences, or content that assumed I already knew what I was doing.
I spent hours trying to figure out how to open a CDC account, which mutual fund was actually good, whether property or stocks made more sense for someone like me — a salaried Pakistani with limited savings and zero background in finance.
I made mistakes. I wasted time. And I wish someone had just explained things clearly, in simple language, with real Pakistani examples and actual rupee amounts.
That is why I built Investellia.
What Investellia Is
Investellia is Pakistan’s personal finance and investment blog — written specifically for ordinary Pakistanis who want to make smarter decisions with their money.
We cover everything from the basics (what is the KSE-100, how does a mutual fund work) to the more advanced (how to build a diversified portfolio, how to calculate real returns after inflation, what T-bills are and how to access them).
Everything we write is:
- In plain English (and sometimes Urdu terms) — no Wall Street jargon
- Pakistan-specific — real examples using rupees, PSX companies, Meezan Bank, NSC rates, FBR rules
- Honest — we tell you the risks, not just the potential rewards
- Independent — we are not paid to promote specific products or companies
Who This Blog Is For
Investellia is written for:
- Salaried professionals in Pakistan who want to invest but don’t know where to start
- Recent graduates taking their first steps with a steady income
- Families looking for safe ways to grow savings — NSCs, mutual funds, gold
- Freelancers and self-employed individuals managing irregular income
- Overseas Pakistanis (NRPs) who want to invest in Pakistan from abroad
- Anyone who has ever wondered ‘where should I put my money?’ and got a confusing answer
About the Author
Usman Haider is the founder and primary writer of Investellia.
I am a Investor based in Islamabad, Pakistan. I have been personally investing in PSX and mutual funds since 2019. I hold a degree in Software Engineering from University of Sargodha, Pakistan and have 7 of experience in Investing and Money Management. My interest in personal finance grew from my own frustrating journey trying to learn about investing in Pakistan — and the realisation that good, honest, locally relevant financial content was extremely hard to find.
